Brand of brushes created by a young Irish businessman named John Denman Dean in 1938 who, on a trip to New York, discovered a new material, nalon. Returning home with plenty of material shortly after the war, he discovered a use for this interesting material: in hairbrushes.
A few years later in 1950 the reputation of this innovative new brush began to grow. But it was Vidal Sassoon's hairdressing revolution in the 1960s that really established the Denman and the 'hairdresser's hairbrush'. Denman developed a wide range of different tools and brushes that make up the range today.
Denman then developed a wide range of different tools and brushes that make up the range today. The Rainey family then bought Denman in 1972, but on the condition that they continue the brand's close association with the creative hairstylist.
Today still family owned and still based in Bangor, Northern Ireland, Denman continues this collaboration with the hair professional.
